Artist’s Statement
In “The Immense Journey,” Loren Eisley wrote, “If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.”

Water is the constant in every image in this exhibit. The color assimilated by water is a constant theme in my work. Time of day, sky color, dark clouds, dawn/ dusk light, sunrise/ sunset, and reflections are many of the situations that can color water and appeals to my aesthetic.

The length of the exposure can greatly affect the feel and mood of the image. All of the exposures are several seconds to 90 seconds.

Tony Sweet Photographer Portrait

After becoming a photographer, I migrated from traditional landscapes and macro to small and medium scenics, which I found more conducive to interpretation and self expression, more like having my own personal space.

British photojournalist, Don McCullin is quoted, “Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.”

As a professional jazz artist in a previous life, it was my proclivity to express my emotions through my music.

As a professional nature/ fine art photographer, it is my wish that I have accomplished the same in my photography.

All prints are made on Canson Prestige paper.
